Vietnamese multimedia company Vie Channel has accused Starbucks Vietnam of using three of its copyrighted songs without permission during the coffee chain’s Siren Calling concert in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this month.

Vie Channel is a major entertainment company based in Vietnam. It is a part of the larger media and entertainment group, DatVietVAC. Vie Channel makes TV shows, runs TV channels, including the VieON streaming platform and manages artists. In a statement released this week, Vie Channel asserts rights to the tracks Gà Sân Ca, Walk, and Từ Chối Hiểu — all of which feature in the company’s popular productions Em Xinh Say Hi, Anh Trai Say Hi, and Rap Việt. None of the works was, they say, licensed for the event, held on August 2.

The "Starbucks Siren Calling" event was a large-scale music concert held by Starbucks in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam, on August 2, 2025. It was a special event, reportedly the first of its kind in Vietnam for the brand, and was organised in partnership with Sacombank and Visa.

Vie Channel claims the songs’ unauthorised performances have been widely circulated on platforms including TikTok, prompting the company to collect evidence and warn of reputational damage. The firm says such use constitutes a “serious infringement” of copyright and related rights under Vietnamese law.

The company has threatened legal action if its demands are not met.

A representative for the concert’s organisers told news outlets that they are still verifying the claims.
