Thailand to amend copyright laws

Thailand is preparing amendments to its Copyright law to implement the WIPO Performance and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

 

The amendments cover a wide range of points. They include wider definitions for sound recordings and performers, and both communication to the public and publication rights are expanded to include the internet. Performers rights are improved. Criminal sanctions are amended.

 

Public comments ae invited on the draft Copyright Act between 18th January and 18th February.
