The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) has intensified its anti-piracy crackdown by issuing two site-blocking requests to Internet Service Providers (ISPs). This action, carried out under the Rules on Voluntary Administrative Site Blocking, targets platforms illegally streaming Filipino films.

Following complaints from Viva Communications and Vivamax, IPOPHL requested the blocking of 13 FreeCine-related sites and the platform Asyaminik. These sites were found illegally offering copyrighted local films for streaming and download. IPOPHL's Acting Director General Nathaniel S. Arevalo affirmed the agency's commitment to using site-blocking measures to protect the IP rights of the Philippine creative industries, which he said are a vital driver of the economy.
