Indonesian Book publisher Kompas Gramedia, has complained about publishing piracy, indicating that it is a problem for local as well as international publishers. The Indonesian Publishers Association (IKAPI) conducted a survey in 2021 which indicated that 75% of their 130 or so surveyed members suffered from book piracy.  Kompas Gramedia argues that governmental regulations do not help them (perhaps the lack of enforcement) and ecommerce marketplaces do not remove pirated books. Kompas Gramedia want to explore technical solutions such as QR codes and NFTs for individual books, as proof of authenticity, to more quickly identify pirated copies.
