China and the UK just took another step forward in copyright protection co-operation.

On July 4, in London, the National Copyright Administration of China and the UK Intellectual Property Office held a ministerial meeting and renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on copyright co-operation.

This new MoU builds on their first agreement from 2010. It’s all about working closer together. Both sides will share updates on laws and technology, encourage visits and training for copyright professionals, and support cooperation between collective management organizations.

They’ll also set annual plans and roll out joint projects, making sure the MoU delivers real results. The goal is simple: help both countries grow their copyright sectors and play a bigger part in shaping global copyright rules.

It shows that China and the UK want to lead on copyright issues. By teaming up, they can tackle new challenges, share best practices, and support creators in both countries. This partnership is a win for copyright owners, businesses, and anyone who values creative work.
