A famous Bollywood couple have taken legal action against YouTube and its parent company, Google. The actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan filed lawsuits in the Delhi High Court seeking a permanent injunction against misuse of their likeness, voice, and image in AI-generated deepfake content. The lawsuits cite several explicit and fictitious manipulated videos, some of which had amassed millions of views on YouTube channels.

Beyond demanding the removal of this infringing content, their case raises a broader, challenge to YouTube's AI policies. They are asking the court to order Google to implement safeguards that would prevent such misleading or deepfake videos from being used as they can train other AI models too, arguing that this risks the further, uncontrollable proliferation of false information.

They are also seeking approximately $450,000 in damages. The case is a high-profile test of personality rights in the age of generative AI.
